This municipality is situated on the left of the torrent, surrounded by the first foothills of the Varaita Valley. Here the provincial road starts its ascent towards the mountains.
In the possession of the bishop of Turin and a fief of the Signori di Verzuolo in the 10th century it was submitted under the Margraviate of Saluzzo in 1172, whose fate it shared. Passing to the Savoyards in 1589 it became the property of some noble families.
Artisan activities and typical production (cheese, beer, raviolas and freshly made pasta) are widely spread. The municipality, having a long tradition as a seat for building companies, offers the Museum of the Bricklayer.
